This session will cover:
- Basic principles with a particular emphasis on cash flow
- Explanation of the three major financial statements and how they are related
- profit and loss account
- balance sheet
- cash flow statement
- The benefits of a clearly thought out chart of accounts
- The benefits of a computerised accounting system
- Key elements and techniques of financial management such as:
- Break-even analysis
- Financial controls
- Internal financial reporting
- Planning and control
- An overview of “Access to new finance”
- Taxation matters such as PAYE, VAT and corporation tax
- Submissions to Companies House (statutory accounts and annual returns)
The workshop will be run by Ken Dickson, Managing Director of Axiom-e, a provider of part time Finance Directors to growing organisations, who has secured funding for clients ranging from £20,000 to £4m.

The training is free* as long as you:
- Are an eligible, registered SME (self-employed, limited company, registered partnership) within the six eastern counties (Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk and Norfolk).
- Attend a registration meeting with the NIAB Innovation Farm team
- Speak to the trainer before the session
- Turn up on time at the training session and stay for the duration of the training session
