Genetic innovation
Plant breeding has improved yields, agronomic performance and climate resilience of niche, high-value oil-producing crops with specialist applications in the health and nutrition sector, including pharmaceutical and superfoods sectors, and uses in the manufacturing industries. Some of these crops could provide new sources of essential fatty acids which are needed to support our nervous, cardio-vascular and immune systems, but cannot be made in the body and must therefore be supplied in our diets.
